Relational databases

Duration

0.5 day workshop

This course is part of our winter school.

About the Course

A relational database is the cornerstone of modern data management. It has been around for decades, and has been labeled as "outdated" many times when newer technologies came around. Yet, the data world inevitably circles back to the power of relational databases. In this course we will see what relational databases are, and how they can be used. We will get very hands-on writing our own SQL statements with Snowflake, a modern data warehouse (which is just a relational database on steroids, really). Once we get the hang of SQL, we will build analytics pipelines on Snowflake, using DBT, an open-source tool to build SQL transformations.
