A relational database is the cornerstone of modern data management. It has been around for decades, and has been labeled as "outdated" many times when newer technologies came around. Yet, the data world inevitably circles back to the power of relational databases. In this workshop, we will see what relational databases are, and how they can be used. We will get hands-on writing our own SQL statements, executing them on Snowflake, a modern data warehouse (which is just a relational database on steroids, really). Once we get the hang of SQL, we will build analytics pipelines on Snowflake, using DBT, an open-source tool to build SQL transformations. After taking this course, you will be able to * reduce the code base of SQL based ETL pipelines, and thus reduce the chance of mistakes * bring DBT workflows in modern automated orchestration frameworks * iterate faster during development of reporting and other analytics workloads. You'll also get some experience with Snowflake, to boot! 🎉
